Join our Board of Directors and help bring healing

We are searching for people to serve on the St. Raphael Center Board of Directors.  Ideally, you are faithful, Catholic-friendly individuals who are passionate about bringing a healing ministry to Central Texas.

We need to be a diverse group who has the time, energy, and leadership to devote to a start-up nonprofit.  In addition, experience with strategic planning and nonprofit start-up would also be helpful.  We need the following skill sets:

  • Accounting/Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Human Resources
  • Investment Management
  • Information Technology
  • Legal
  • Real estate

In addition, we need representation from a Catholic consecrated religious person.

Board Responsibilities

The Board of Directors governs the overall execution of the Center’s mission.  This includes:

  • Ensuring effective planning
  • Monitoring and strengthening programs and services
  • Ensuring adequate financial resources
  • Protecting assets and providing proper financial oversight
  • Building and working together as a competent board
  • Ensuring legal and ethical integrity
  • Enhancing the organization’s public standing

Board members also contribute to the governance, legal, financial, fundraising, and ministry skills needed to ensure the long-term fulfillment and sustainability of St. Raphael Center’s mission.  In addition, the Board oversees the Executive Director.  The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization.

As a start-up nonprofit, the Board will require a lot of time and energy.  You are urged to prayerfully consider your personal priorities for the next three years as well as the ways to contribute to the development of the Center.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • Board members serve terms of three years and may serve two consecutive terms.
  • Board meetings are required at least quarterly.  However, we will likely meet more often as the nonprofit builds toward service delivery.  Board members must attend at least 75% of all scheduled meetings.  Dates, time, and location of meetings will be set once new Board members are placed.
  • Board members must actively participate in committee work. Standing committees include: Governance, Finance and Audit, Fundraising, and Mission and Program.  Board members must serve on at least one committee.
  • Board members must attend special meetings/events such as donor meetings, open house, ground breaking, etc.
  • All Board members are expected to support the Center financially at a leadership level.  The amount will vary depending on each Board member’s ability to give.
